Via Robert Stadler “To design a new bistro chair for Thonet is a touchy task. Initially I was proposed to customize a typical Thonet chair for the Corso restaurants of which’s design I am in charge of. But I preferred to elaborate a new chair instead of producing one more Designer comment on this essential piece of furniture. My starting point was the fact that today chair 214 (historically baptized Nr. 14) is rather expensive, which represents a certain break in regards to Thonet’s history. Today Im following up on Tuesdays workshop progress report with another project we worked over last weekend: a start on our surface-mounted electric (switches and outlets) and workshop lighting.
For lighting, weve decided to install 16 recessed lights in the field of the ceiling (roughly evenly spaced throughout the room in a 4 by 4 grid), with additional perimeter lighting provided by six 8-foot sections of track.

Mailboxes are one of the first things you see when you enter a residence, an important element of the overall entry statement. No longer something that we wish to have fade into the surroundings, but rather one more opportunity to dress the area up. We are seeing a growing trend in beautiful customized mailboxes and a great amount of thought is being put in its design.
Iron Age Studios takes elements out of nearby items such as lanterns, railings and/or doors for inspiration. In a previous post, Betty Lou Phillips’ French Impressions, featured a mailbox that was inspired by what a client saw on a palazzo when traveling in Verona, Italy.
